That recipe is Just Wrong. That said, how did it taste?

I like it a lot. Pumpkin, maple, spices, cream, eggs... seems pretty traditional (though I used a sugar pumpkin I baked and pulped myself instead of canned). What strikes you as Just Wrong? The yams?
The vodka crust has been their "cool trick" of late, and while I can't say it made my crust perfect, it did help.

Yeah, the yams are Just Wrong. But that's partly because my pumpkin pie goal has always been to reduce the sugar as much as possible. And they have exactly the opposite opinion as I do about the ideal texture.
The vodka crust has worked pretty well for me.
I had scrambled eggs with chicken hearts, onions and green pepper. I just recently discovered the local Chinese grocery, which has the most *amazing* meat section (hence the chicken hearts)
