this is getting to be a pattern
I finished making the beer at 1:30am, just like the last two. This one is a hefeweizen, with a recipe that claims to be a Franziskaner clone.
Came in a little low on the gravity - 1.042 instead of 1.052-1.054. I'll blame it on the math I did to get from dry malt extract to liquid malt extract, and the fact that liquid malt extract only comes in one size. I should top it up with some DME next time. Or just bite the bullet and go all-grain. This extract thing is starting to annoy me.

anybody want to make a logo for the "1:30am brewery" or related theme? I'll put it on bottles!

What kind of things were you thinking for the logo, or is it completely up to the artist?

I didn't have many ideas, really. Perhaps something that used the clock imagery (hm, though Watch City brewery in Waltham is doing some of this already). A Dali-esque melting clock, a person smacking snooze on an alarm clock with the classic red 7-segment digits.

Or perhaps something playing on the furtiveness of being up "late". Other people asleep, low lights.... hm. Maybe this one isn't so good :)

I got a mental image of a cartoon-esque house shape, with the moon and stars above it, with a mad scientist sort of figure hunched over little carboys looking happy. Might be a bit too busy.

beer stuff

I just found one of my favorite beers from Germany at the Davis Sq. liquor shop- Roggen, which is a 60% rye beer. Like a dunkel weis but with an interesting flavor. Just thought I'd share :)
